Shiiiit. Busted.
While I do have 1261 unread emails in my Inbox, they’re primarily from 2006-2007. And they are all retail spam, facebook notifications, and the like. I am not sure why my 22 year old self didn’t just mark them as read or delete them. My 27 year old self has improved. Thankfully, the sidebar doesn’t show the real damage…I have 5000+ total emails in my inbox.
::hangs head in shame::
I have a problem. I am an email pack-rat. I do not delete. I mean, what if I need that Amazon invoice from 2006? Right?
Now, however, I feel self-conscious and motivated to clean out the inbox. Buuuut…I have absolutely no clue where to begin.
I, too, am an email pack-rat (I’m an actual pack-rat too but that’s a post for a different therapy session). I can’t stand the unread emails but I do have about 6000 emails in my inbox. I think it’s really important to keep those emails from 2008 that my mom sent me about where they should stay for graduation. As well as that one email from Borders in 2009 (a good year!) about that 33% off coupon. And a few dead cats in there for good measure. yes, in my gmail inbox.
“I have a dream that one day my children will not be judged by the amount of copious emails in their inbox, but by the content of what they post on the internet.” - MLK
10355 in my Outlook inbox. 3741 in gmail (828 unread). Is there some sort of support group?

I hold on to emails, too! But I file or label them all into one of my 30 folders. BUT I read a study yesterday that said just searching your email was more effective than sorting into folders and saved a ton of time.

Why would you delete emails? It’s all about a searchable index of my pathetic existence, baby. 9679 and counting…

I don’t delete much either, but I put it all in folders so it’s not so overwhelming all in one place. Old invoices, though you seriously don’t need. Especially Amazon ones, I’m sure they’ve got all that history saved for you!
